The Technology
What is Auracast™ and why does it change everything?
Auracast™ belongs to the next generation of Bluetooth®, fundamentally changing how you interact with the devices around you. It replaces the traditional pairing with a seamless connection — and lets a single source broadcast to unlimited listeners at higher quality and even lower latency than classic Bluetooth®.
a✱Titan builds on Auracast™ as its foundational layer — turning the standard into products people can actually use.
Auracast™ is useful from assistive listening to orchestrating every speaker in the room. Every phone, TV, and pair of headphones will eventually catch up to this new-tech, a✱Titan is creating the gateway now.
splitR is the first device built to make Auracast™ actually usable today.
One source. Unlimited listeners.
A single broadcast reaches every nearby device — phones, headphones, hearing aids, speakers — with no pairing and no listener limit.
Sub-millisecond sync.
Built on Bluetooth® LE Audio (LC3). Every listener hears the same waveform at the same instant — no drift, no echo across a room.
Open standard. Lower power.
Higher fidelity at a fraction of classic Bluetooth®'s energy draw. Any compliant device can join — no walled gardens, no proprietary licensing.
There will be almost 2.5 million Auracast™ broadcast audio deployments globally.
Technical Benchmarks
Higher fidelity. Lower power. Open spec.
Auracast™ rides on the LC3 codec — the mandatory codec for Bluetooth® LE Audio — delivering broadcast-grade audio that outperforms classic Bluetooth® on every meaningful axis.
48 kHz
Full-band stereo
True full-band sample rate at bitrates from 24 to 124 kbps.
LC3
Mandatory codec
Better quality than SBC at half the bitrate — and far less power.
PBP
Public Broadcast Profile
The spec layer that lets any compliant Sink discover and join public Auracast™ streams in venues.
The R Series
Auracast™ is the future.
The R Series makes it the present.
Plug it into any audio source and broadcast to anything that listens, including the gear you already own.
Where it lands
Built for every space audio touches.
From terminals to sanctuaries, Auracast™ turns broadcast audio into something every listener can join — on their own device, in perfect sync.
At Sony, we believe that the widespread adoption of Bluetooth® LE Audio will enable even better Bluetooth® audio user experiences.
Frequently asked
Auracast™, in plain language.
Auracast™ is a Bluetooth® broadcast feature that lets a single audio source stream to an unlimited number of nearby receivers— headphones, speakers, hearing aids—at the same time, in sync.
Classic Bluetooth® is point-to-point: one source pairs to one sink. Auracast™ is point-to-multipoint: one source broadcasts to unlimited sinks with no pairing handshake per listener. Auracast™ operates on a fraction of power with a higher fidelity sound.
Native support is rolling out across newer Android phones (Samsung Galaxy S24/S25, Pixel 9), select TVs, hearing aids, and earbuds shipping with Bluetooth® 5.2+ and LE Audio firmware. Most existing speakers, headphones, and pre-iPhone-15-era devices do not support Auracast™ natively—splitR bridges them onto the Auracast™ network so you don't have to replace what you already own.
LC3 (Low Complexity Communication Codec) is the mandatory codec for Bluetooth® LE Audio. It supports 48 kHz full-band audio at lower bitrates than SBC, with better quality, lower latency, and significantly reduced power consumption—enabling longer battery life on hearing aids, earbuds, and broadcast transmitters like splitR.
